About me
See my journey so far
Who am I?
I’m an altruistic and inquisitive final-year student passionate about user-centric design, innovation and the future of technology. Majoring in User Experience Design at UQ, I am extremely passionate about user-centric, strategic, product design and find inspiration in how technology can improve people’s lives through creativity, innovation, and meaningful design considerations.
Through my studies, part-time work, co-founder role, and student society volunteering, I love embracing opportunities to learn and explore, gaining skills and experience in user-centric design and creative problem-solving. Currently, I am participating in Startmate’s Launch Club alongside my Co-founder to work on our startup idea. Speachy aims to empower people improve their public speaking skills and reduce glossophobia!
Most importantly though, I have a dog named Toby!
Strengths and Skills
I am an empathetic, creative person with strengths in identifying users’ pain points before crafting the most effective solution, welcoming and implementing feedback throughout the process. I value collaboration, especially with people with differing skills, values, and backgrounds, and I believe diversity contributes to some of the best outcomes. I am a clear, transparent communicator, who advocates for users, with skills in time management and leadership.
I have experience with:
Industry Experience
My degree and participation in Folklore’s Design Chapter and Prodigi’s Innovation Challenge have provided a solid understanding of design theory and frameworks while solving problems as a team, advocating for users, and uncovering strengths in leadership and management.
Early this year, I was fortunate to participate in the 4B program with Data#3, Cisco and Women in Digital. Along with five other talented young women in tech, I loved learning about the depth and versatility of the local tech industry.
In my part-time UX/UI internship at Blackbook.ai, a rapidly growing tech consultancy company, I enjoy working on something new each day, whether it’s polishing case studies, developing wireframes, or updating websites. I have gained a nuanced understanding of real-world design scenarios, collaborated with engineers, learned accessibility requirements and design standards, and recognised the importance of balancing design processes with time and business constraints.
Society Experience
Actively participating in student societies such as UQ’s Ladies of Technology has helped build skills in graphic design, marketing, leadership, and event management. Whether it was my initial role as a marketing associate or as interim president, I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience, learning opportunities, and lifelong friendships.
I also established the Design Portfolio alongside peers as part of UQ’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Society (UQIES). Following our first sold-out, 8-hour-long UX Workshop, we’ve continued to run sucessful design events for students to learn, participate in workshops, and update their portfolios (with Canva!).
Exploring the Tech Industry
I love embracing opportunities to immerse myself in the industry, whether it’s
